Hello Students: Today you are going to work on coding in Code.org But first let's listen to a song about computers.  Click  here ! Click  here  to sign into Code.org. You will sign in with your Google username and password. Open the Code.org Reflection in another tab.  Write down which lesson and activity you are starting with.  Go back to code.org and work for 30 minutes. When you are  finished fill out the rest of the  Code.org Reflection and submit it. Come back to the Google Meet and let me know you  finished. Have a great learning day!

BrainPop Email

Hello My Future Champions!  The theme of today’s lesson is Email. Today you are going to do four things: ·        1) Listen to a song about mail. ·        2) Watch a film about email and take a quiz in BrainPop. ·        3) Fill out the Email Reflection.     4) Send me an email telling me about your day. Click   here   to listen to a song about mail. The Beatles also made a good version of this song. Click  here  to sign into the BrainPop lesson about Email (the username and password are both "tfbrain").  Watch the film and complete both the graded quiz.  Remember your scores. When you are finished with the quiz, go back to your class stream and fill out the  Email Reflection and submit it to me. Our Family Comes From Round The World

Hello My Future Champions! Today we are going to think about family by singing a song, filling out a questionnaire and drawing about it. The name of the song is: Our Family Comes From Round The World.  The lyrics are from a poem by Mary Ann Hoberman and I put them to music. Chicken Fat

Hello Students: Please click on this link for an introduction to today's lesson. When I was your age (a long long time ago), President John F. Kennedy started The President's Council on Physical Fitness. Chicken Fat was the theme song. Click here to listen to the song. In my elementary school, we would use this song to exercise.   Click here and follow the instructor to do the exercises yourself.  You can ask your parents, brothers and sisters to do it with you. When you are finished doing your exercises  go back to Google Classroom, fill out and submit the attached Chicken Fat Reflection. Have Fun!

MYON Vocabulary Reflection

Hello Students: Today you will sign into MYON (using your username and password) and read a book (or books) of your choosing. Before we start the lesson, let's have a song.  Click  here  to begin. While you are reading, you will find  two new vocabulary words  you don’t know and write them down in a Google Doc you will find in your Google Classroom attached to my lesson.  For each word you will also write its  definition  and how you figured out its meaning. Click  here  to sign into MYON. Go back to Google Classroom and open the MYON Vocabulary Reflection. You will switch back and forth between the MYON and  MYON Vocabulary Reflection  tabs to complete the assignment.

Welcome to Distance Learning with Google Meet!

Hello Students and Parents: Today we will begin our distance learning adventure  together.  We are going to  start by practicing signing into  Google Classroom  and joining a  Google Meet . Here's how to do it: 1) Sign into  classroom.google.com  using your Google username and password.  Your screen should look like this: In the upper right hand corner, click on the square of dots and click on "Calendar". After you have opened the calendar click on "Google Meet w/ Mr. Almaas" Click on "Join Hangouts Meet" Click on "Join Now" and if all goes well, we will be connected. If you are having problems joining The Meet, you can email me at: salmaas@schools.nyc.gov I look forward to meeting with all of you!

Hello Students: Today you are going to practice copying and pasting text from a blog onto a WORD document. Click  here  to access the Check Your Writing blog. Highlight and right click the five rules of writing. Click “copy”. Open a new blank WORD document. Click the cursor and the page, right click and click “paste” Highlight all the text and change the font to point 12. Align the text to the left. Raise your hand to show me your work. The First Inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere

Hello Students: On Monday, October 14 th , we will have a day off from school to celebrate Columbus Day.  Columbus is credited with "discovering" America and yet there were people living here for thousands of years before that. Today you are gong to read about the first inhabitants of North America and answer some questions in a quiz in your Google Classroom. The first inhabitants of the Western Hemisphere were Native Americans. It is thought that they originally came from Asia (Siberia) by way of the Bering Strait about 40,000 years ago. The hunters and gatherers constantly walked south (away from the glaciers) in search of food.  One of the animals hunted were mammoths, a giant elephant-like animal They probably followed them over the land bridge shown on the map above and eventually got to what is now Canada, the United States and points south.. They stopped and settled in certain regions, perhaps, because they found a good geographic locat...
